Le Bal Masqué promises to be one of this summer's premier events - lavish, stylish, and sumptuously rich. Fashion, frivolity, and altruism collide in this night to benefit the international medical relief organization, M.E.D.I.C.O.
Named after Josephine, the mistress of Napoleon, with motif and retro French decor to match, Josephine is the perfect setting for a masquerade. So don your finery and decorative mask, walk the red carpet and enter a world transformed. You'll be helping others while having a great time - the perfect combination for a fantastic evening.
Proceeds from Le Bal Masqué will help underwrite M.E.D.I.C.O.'s Adopt a Village initiative. M.E.D.I.C.O. will construct, supply, and provide ongoing management of a health center/mini-hospital in an outlying area of Honduras currently with little or no access to medical care. This undertaking represents a long term commitment to the health and well being of this community and will have a truly meaningful impact on the individuals that it will serve. Thousands of individuals will benefit - leading healthier, happier, and more productive lives.
Honduras is an extremely poor country. With the majority of the population living in extreme poverty, addressing even the most basic of healthcare needs is often well beyond the capacity of the Honduran government and society at large. In a vacuum such as this, projects like Adopt a Village and organizations like M.E.D.I.C.O. are not only relevant but essential.
Physician volunteer, Frank Duggan, comments:
"For many years, I have been traveling abroad to do volunteer medical work. It is disheartening to see the conditions in which the majority of the world's population live and frustrating that so many easily treatable medical conditions are left untreated, often with devastating impact.
I recently cared for a child who, at the age of 12, had not spoken his entire life because of a relatively common condition of being "tongue tied" (the tongue adheres to the floor of the mouth). A simple surgical procedure that took less than 15 minutes afforded the child an opportunity to learn to speak. Cleft lip repair costs less than $300 and generally takes a surgical team less than one hour to complete yet gives a child back his or her self esteem and a chance to live a life not marginalized because of appearance. Gastrointestinal parasites are a leading cause of malnourishment amongst young children but can be controlled with medication for under $2 per year.
I share these examples to give some sense of what can be achieved by enabling organizations like M.E.D.I.C.O. with your financial support."
The Le Bal Masqué fundraiser will raise funds in a number of ways:
1) 22 tables will be sold for a minimum $1000 donation that is tax deductible.
2) Individuals ticket sales @ $20 per ticket.
3) A silent auction with many wonderful items will be held during the earlier half of the evening.
4) Proceeds from all liquor sales minus liquor costs will be donated to M.E.D.I.C.O. by Josephine.
5) Corporate sponsorship.
6) Personal contributions will be accepted at the event or may be made in advance online.
This evening would not be possible without the generous support of Josephine, which has opened its doors to us and graciously is donating all profits from the evening. This is something surely to be lauded.
A special thanks to owners Dave, Alain, and Yama.
And, a note of gratitude to each of you who are supporting Le Bal Masqué and M.E.D.I.C.O. You are helping others and doing something truly good.
We look forward to a great evening!
